Papa John’s Pizza Guy Delivers Drive By Shooting Instead Of Pizza - Consumerist

On the night of April 14, 2007, Mr. Kenneth E. Cole (yes, really) of Midwest City, Oklahoma called a Papa John’s to order a pizza—a decision which triggered a series of events culminating in a Papa John’s Pizza Guy and his twin brother doing a drive by on Mr. Cole’s house (allegedly).

My Friend the Pen

This essay-thing was Originally posted here. I’m going to repost it so it’s saved at the bloggyblog. I’ve changed a bit recently in how I deal with stuff, I’m not as pen-dependent but I still get the shakes when I lose a new and perfectly good pen. I’m also still taking a close look at organization and such in my life, so seeing this helps me reflect and learn.

Ahem!

I have a confession to make. I have an obsession. I have been dealing with it ever since I can remember. It’s something I deal with in my everyday life. I want to share it and air it out, in hopes that I can better understand it, and you can better understand me.

Mike Relm oo~

A few weeks ago I went with my hearts-factory to go see Blue Man Group for her birthday. They were amazing as usual. I’ve seen their theater performance before, once or twice, but had never seen them in concert. It was epic.

As good as they were, I was incredibly stricken with their opening act. His name is Mike Relm oo~. Imagine a traditional DJ, with his traditional DJ equipment. He was a master turntablist, and was one heck of a record scratcher. There were several big projection screens up front, all over the place, (Blue Man Group is quite the multimedia extravaganza, really, everyone needs to see it at least once.) Huge and funny and very relevant clips are playing while he’s playing his music. A few minutes into the show, you realize that not only is he scratching records, but he’s also manipulating and controlling the videos on the screen as well. At many points you realize that he’s actually… scratching video clips.

And not just any video clips. He reached right into your nostalgia and paid it a visit. It seemed like he just pegged the stuff that I loved. Resovoir Dogs, Jimi Hendrix performances, Bulls on Parade.

He scratched the damn “O Face” part from Office Space.

Other clips included the Peanuts piano song, Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, The Immigrant Song, even the newer Josie and the Pussycats movie with one of my girlfriends, Rachel Leigh Cook. (Seriously, tangent, but that movie was really good, I don’t care what anyone says. It had some really funny pop-culture commentary, and made fun of Big Music, but it was also produced by MTV Films, so it was just funny and ironic. Plus I want to Yiff RLC when she’s got cat ears on.) Another favorite clip was from Nacho Libre, the final fight sequence, where he’s doing the crazy acrobatics. At one point he does a sort of donkey-kick, kicking the other guy in the but. He scratched that part so he’s just kicking him in the butt, over and over and over.

It’s just one of those things you have to see, live. It’s about the performance. The music was amazing, he was doing some sick-ass live mashups and remixes, but really it’s the performance. I was so impressed by this guy, I want to see more of his stuff. I’m a fan for life!

Check out his site, here. Make sure to check out the media stuff, as well. Here’s more YouTube stuff, and his actual youtube profile.
