Blizzc-owned…
Wow, I am wiped out. Blizzcon and then a lil’ jaunt through Disney LandyCalifornication Adventureization.
My gambling:
Starcraft II: 4 races. Wager - 25 cents.
No additional races announced at Blizzcon. However, in one of the cinematic, a Protoss alludes that the ‘Xel’Naga is back’ and the shit is going to hit the fan. You never fought against them in the first one. I’ll theorycraft and say if they are making a big deal about it, then you get to fight against them in this game. If you can fight against them, then why can’t you play them?
I’ll man up, however, and honor my bet. No new races announced, I’ll pay up my quarter.
WoW expansion announced:
Very true. Level 80, Northrend, Arthas, the whole 9 yards. I win me a shiny nickel.
Diablo 3 announced:
Not true, not even an inkling of an inference of it. QQ. There goes my life savings.

I got to play a little of the WoW expansion, which means nothing. Myself, Bryne, Fiona, Ama, and WraithhammerAunduin did the first 5 man instance for about 5 pulls. The little town and the instance looked awesome, really cool fire effects, but there’s nothing exceptional or special about it. No new loot or any new systems or anything. I’m more excited about the new concepts being introduced into the game like the return of join as group to AV, the very exciting guild battlegrounds, (like join as guild), and the new PVP area in Northrend. I’m very not happy about another 10 levels, but happy about new talents and abilities. Lastly, I’m sort of dealing with the mental issue of having to get a guild full of people to raid when they know the next level raise is there; if anything, we can budget our time now, assuming it’ll be another year and a half.
I also got to play some SC2. Now without sounding too much like a fanboy, I have to say that the demo (I played 2v2 with Maryssa one game, and then Rog another game, each time against 2 strangers, each time getting my protossian ass handed to me brutally,) is the most polished game I have ever played. The entire Terran and Protoss build order and tech tree appeared to be intact, but I didn’t get very far up it. The games were limited to 20 min, so you had a good amount of time to build up an army and send them in to pwn. Kind of a cool idea; throttling the amount of time you play. They are doing some new things with it, the in-between missions have some dialog trees you can explore, and then choosing missions instead of being railroaded. So psyched.
The costume contest was bittersweet. The conditions were pretty damn uncomfortable, especially for my snakey and deathknighty peeps who had to wait 3 hours in the hot darkness. I’ll try to find pix of our costumes, which went over incredibly well.
Awesome times otherwise, it was motivational and depressing all at the same time. So many cool people being awesome and successful and crafting worlds and stories and games. Basically a huge conflict of internal interest; rub the hands together and salivate and play all these games, but while I’m playing them I’m not getting any of the things done that would be making me successful at the same time! =P
My brain is fried, time for some food and unwind-ness.
