Now, normally this would piss a webmaster off; hotlinking images steals bandwidth. People should save copies of the images to their own webhost, blah blah blah. But I’m cool. I recognize the fact that bandwidth is cheaper now, and I also have some to spare.
But not me.
I crack the hell up, (as illustrated by Cyberangel.)
Why?
Ms. Hilton’s image is 93k. Now, knowing that I have a pretty busy site, this .jpg doesn’t even show up in the top 30 most requested files, as well as the list of top files ranked by bandwidth used. Most all the content on my site are flash files around half a meg or a size. A little picture ain’ gon’ do sheet.
Normally I would do nothing. My stuff has been hotlinked before, especially my flash movies, even more especially, WorkIt.
http://www.collegeboredom.com/ hotlinked Workit on the front page of their site, for example. I didn’t and don’t do anything about it currently because I include the URL to my website within those flash movies. If I had to pay for it, I would, but again, bandwidth is not an issue at present.
I’m still in awe that the likeness that Asymetrx has supplied of lovable trollop Paris Hilton is being used for what is known as “THINSPIRATION” on a few Xanga-using Anorexics that host communities and think they are fat.
So, what to do about all this?
